Sleeping Red Giants must beat Kedah in Malaysia Cup
PETALING JAYA: It will be a do-or-die mission for Selangor against Kedah in the second leg of the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar tonight.
It has been a disastrous September for the Red Giants, having lost three matches to date. They lost 3-1 to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their final Malaysia Cup Group D match on Sept 9.
The Klang Valley outfit then lost 3-2 to defending champions Kedah in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals on Sept 15.
Selangor’s depressing form continued as they were beaten 2-1 by PKNS in a Super League clash on Wednesday.
Selangor coach P. Maniam has told his players to wake up from their slumber.
“The buck stops here. I want a barnstorming performance against Kedah.
“We lost our last three matches because the players lost their focus on crucial moments.
“We have worked hard in training to rectify the mistakes. We are ready to go all out to win the match.
“First, we need to get an early goal. That’s the only way to get back into this game.
"We need to win by two clear goals to move on,” said the former international striker.
