SEREMBAN: Every community will benefit from the exponential growth expected with several big projects taking off soon in Malaysia, says MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the decade ahead would be the country’s “golden years” provided Malaysia remained stable and united.

“We are going to see the launch of the Malaysian Vision Valley and the completion of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail project.

“We will also see the construction of the Bandar Malaysia project and several other initiatives that will make us more visible on the world map.

“But to ensure these are executed well, we must have a strong government which will look after the interests of all if its people,” he said at the Negri Sembilan Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry dinner here.

Liow pointed out Malaysia had also established better relations with some of the world’s leading economies including China and the United States.

He said even the world’s leading financial institutions had forecast Malaysia to register impressive growth.

Liow said the Chinese community should take heed of this so they too would be able to benefit.

The MCA, he said, needed to have a stronger voice in Parliament so that they can continue protecting the rights of the Chinese community.

“We need more support from the Chinese community to be more effective and to raise their grievances at the highest level,” he said.

Liow pointed out even Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak wanted the MCA to be better represented in both Federal and state governments.

“On our part we have transformed the MCA and we are very united today,” he said.

Liow added that MCA would never allow religious extremism to take root as long as they had the support of the Chinese community.

Also at the event were Negri Sembilan Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Datuk Looi Hei Tyng, MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and party Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
