Frost to stay for three months to work with juniors

KUALA LUMPUR: Morten Frost will stay on for another three months in Malaysia – but he will work with the juniors.

That’s the agreement that has been reached between Frost and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) following the Danes’ decision to resign as technical director on Sept 11.

BAM general manager Michelle Chai said yesterday that Frost would continue working with BAM as a consultant and that his main task would be to draw up a blueprint for the junior development programme.

“Morten has given us a six-month notice when he tendered his resignation. We have decided that he will stay on until December and Morten has agreed,” said Michelle.

“He will come out with a junior development blueprint. He has some knowledge of our junior programme and competitions. He may travel to the states and recommend ways for improvement.

“Next year is crucial for BAM. All the juniors from BJSS (Bukit Jalil Sports School) will move to ABM (Academy Badminton Malaysia). Frost believes that the move is important. All these plans will be reflected in his report.

“We have also started the AirAsiaBAM National Junior League. Morten may look at it and give his input on ways to improve it further,” added Michelle, whose scope of responsibility has doubled since Frost quit.

“I have more responsibilities now. Without Frost, I have to communicate with all the five head coaches and support them more on the administration part.

“The technical department, which registers players, books the players flight tickets and manages other issues, is now under me too.”
