HARIAN METRO’s frontpage report featured the mother of Dr Nur Amalina Che Bakri, 30, defending her daughter’s fashion sense and lifestyle after she was nicknamed “Dr Bling Bling” on social media recently.

Sabariah Hassan said her daughter was wise enough to take care of herself and was focused on her career as a doctor serving at the Royal London Hospital’s Surgery, Emergency and Trauma Unit.

She acknowledged that her daughter, who speaks Spanish and Italian, often shares her experiences on Instagram and Twitter as a means to motivate others.

“My daughter is a strong person and is not easily shaken by comments from netizens.

“She is always thankful for advice and comments given. She takes it as a guide to be a better person,” she said.

The Kota Tinggi lass, who scored 17As in the 2004 SPM exams and won a scholarship from Bank Negara, is currently training to be a specialist surgeon in the Royal London Hospital for breast cancer and oncoplasty.

Dr Nur Amalina said she has a hectic schedule and is on call even on weekends.

To ease her stress, she said she goes to the gymnasium, out with friends or rests at home.

She said she was one of the doctors who helped treat victims of terrorists attacks at Westminster in March and the London Bridge in June.
