Like a dream come true

MOHAMAD Faisal Hussain fulfilled his ambition of qualifying for a grand final of the Prudential Astro Masters when he carded a one-over 73 to win the 17th leg at Mahkota Golf & Country Club near Kuantan.

Faisal shot 37 on the front nine and came home at even-par. He won by two strokes from Abdul Manan Yunus, a 14-handicappe­r who finished second in the B Medal nett category.

“I can’t believe I’ve achieved it,” said Faisal after the prize-giving. “I’ve been playing the Prudential Astro Masters for a number of years now but I’ve always missed out. Now I can’t wait to travel to Oman and participat­e in the grand final. It’s like a dream come true.”

Faisal, who won a trophy and a compliment­ary massage from Healthland, will compete in a 36-hole final at Muscat Hills Golf Club and the links-styled Al Mouj Golf Club.

Joining Faizal at the grand final will be Mazlan Mamat who won the overall nett category. He and five others finished with identical fiveunder 67s, but Mazlan’s 12 handicap of was the lowest.

Mohd Firdaus Ahmad took home a Bridgeston­e driver worth RM2,590 when he won the A Medal, carding a four-under 68 nett. Datuk Mohd Zaini was second and collected a Panasonic air purifier, while third-placed John Belon won a Samsonite Spinner cabin bag.

Syed Muzaffar was the biggest winner of the day when his tee shot at the par-3 17th hole finished 66cm from the flag. It won him a Panasonic 65-inch LED Smart TV.

But the luckiest golfer was Azli Ismail whose name was drawn by Mahkota general manager Lt Kol (R) Datuk Jamal Abdul Nasir Zainal Abidin in the grand lucky draw. He won a RM3,000 Titoni watch.

The remaining rounds are at Kota Permai GCC on Oct 5 and Tropicana GCC on Oct 12.
