Koeman dismisses Everton crisis talk ahead of Burnley visit

LONDON: Everton manager Ronald Koeman admitted he is worried about his future at the club but insists there are plenty of positives to take from his side’s recent results.

Koeman was booed off by a section of the crowd at Goodison Park on Thursday after Everton were held to a 2-2 draw by Cypriot side Appollon Limassol in the Europa League.

Everton did climb out of the English Premier League bottom three with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, but the manager believes his side need a home win over Burnley today to ease the pressure heading into the international break.

“I am too long in this job to lose my confidence,” Koeman told reporters on Friday.

“Yes, I am worried about the situation and how we can turn it around, but I have enough confidence to be the same manager I was for the last six or seven years, when I was successful.”

“You can lose against Chelsea, you can lose against Tottenham, you can lose against ManUnited and we played 10 more games, and we lost one of 10 (which) is really positive to this situation.”

Koeman confirmed defenders Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka remain doubtful for the match.

Everton welcome Sean Dyche’s Burnley, who have collected five points and are unbeaten in three away games this season. — Reuters
