Don’t make it an issue

Perak manager wants to get on with game against JDT

- By ERIC SAMUEL

PETALING JAYA:

Let’s get on with the game.

This is Perak team manager Ahmad Shahrul Azahar’s stand following the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership’s (FMLLP) decision to revise the Malaysia Cup semi-final, firstleg ties from Oct 13/14 to Oct 15.

In the first-leg clashes, Perak are supposed to welcome Johor Daru Ta’zim (JDT) to the Perak Stadium in Ipoh while Kedah were scheduled to travel to the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, Pahang, to meet Felda United.

“There’s no point prolonging this issue. We requested the game to be played on Oct 14 hoping that it would be a winwin situation for our fans. It is a big game and we expect a bumper crowd.

“We thought that by playing on Saturday (Oct 14), the fans would have a day’s rest on Sunday.

“But FMLLP have made their decision. We won’t make this an issue and will get on with the game. We will make the necessary arrangements to ensure that the game will go on smoothly.

“As for the team, they are ready to play any time. The team spirit is high and the players are ready to make a strong impact in our last game of the season in Ipoh,” said Ahmad Shahrul yesterday.

The former national skipper said that Perak hoped to repeat their win over the Southern Tigers when they last beat them 2-1 in the Super League match in Ipoh on Feb 18.

The FMLLP said in a statement yesterday that the decision to change the dates was due to the national team’s Asian Cup qualifying round match against Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Stadium on Oct 10.

The team will return home on Oct 11 and the players will get three days’ rest for recovery.
