Chilli paste not enough to hold this family together

-

A 71YEAROLD man in China’s Shanxi province who spent days making his six children’s favourite chilli paste was disappointed when none of them came home to celebrate the MidAutumn Festival.

Sin Chew Daily reported that Li Xinggui and his wife ground up the chillies they had planted using a heavy stone mill a few weeks before the festival.

“It was timeconsuming but my children like the chilli paste very much.

“Although I did not know how many would come home, I prepared six portions because I did not want any of them to feel that I am biased,” Li said.

He then called his children to tell them he had prepared the chilli paste, but teared up when told they would not be home this year.

“The MidAutumn Festival is about reunion. I would have been happy even if just one of them came back,” he said.

> Sin Chew Daily also reported that an unemployed man in Skudai, Johor, returned RM7,125 to its rightful owner after the amount was wrongly banked into his account by his former employer.

Instead of keeping the money, Li Guo Hua, in his 60s, took the trouble to find out who had banked the money into his account.

Guo Hua, who worked as an excavator driver, had resigned in August.

His daughter, Li Jia Xiang, 37, related what her father had done on her Facebook page.

Jia Xiang said her parents found out about the money when they went to the bank to make a withdrawal on Monday.

“My father was told the money was supposed to have been credited to another worker with a similar name.

“He then transferred the money to that worker,” she said.

> China Press reported that police rescued 11 Indonesians from a house in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The nine men and two women, aged 18 to 44, claimed they were forced to pick feathers and clean birds’ nests without being paid.

When police went to the house on Monday, the employer refused to open the door and they had to force their way in.

A 55yearold man and his 53yearold wife were arrested in connection with the case.
