Do you know ... about the Justice League?

-

> FANS are eagerly waiting for DC Comics’ superhero blockbuster movie Justice League, which is expected to rival Marvel’s The Avengers at the box-office.

> The Justice League has been DC’s main supperhero team sinnce 1960. It first apppeared in The Brrave & The Bold #28 and got its own title later that year. The seeven founding meembers were Baatman, Superman, Wonder Womman, The Flash, Aquamman, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunnter. Over the next four years,y Green AArrow, The Atomm and awkman ooined. The movie roster comprises Batman, Superman (of course he isn’t dead), Wonder WomanWoman, The

Flash, Aquaman and

Cyborg.C

> The League is not DC’s first superhero team, however; that honour goes to the Justice Society of America.

> The Justice League comic was a hit because fans loved seeing their favourite heroes together. Marvel Comics’ bosses took note and told their top creator, Stan Lee, to create a super-team too. The result: The Fantastic Four, which was the start of the Marvel Universe.

> In the early comics, the League operated from a secret cave outside the small town of Happy Harbor, Rhode Island. A young hipster named Lucas “Snapper” Carr became the team mascot and tagged along on missions. (Fans of TV’s Supergirl series will recognise the name – Carr is the cranky editor on that show.)

> The Justice League has been featured in nine successful animated movies and two TV series. A live-action version of it was teased in the TV series Smallville. A 1997 TV-movie was made in the hope of launching a TV series. It is almost universally reviled by fans.

> The upcoming movie was going to be a two-part film with one continuing storyline. However, the idea of stretching the story was not well received and there will noow be two films with linnked but seeparate plotlines.
