Wee urges Lims to respond to Dr M’s bid to topple PM

-

AYER HITAM: MCA wants DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang and his son Guan Eng to respond to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement where he expressed intention to topple the Prime Minister for his refusal to continue with the New Economic Policy (NEP).

MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong questioned the Lims on their stance over the matter as Kit Siang had been very vocal and critical of Dr Mahathir’s NEP throughout the years when the latter was PM.

“Or is it because Dr Mahathir is now their ally, they have forgotten all about the past accusations and criticisms they had towards him?” Dr Wee asked at an event here on Friday, adding that it was another display of the Opposition’s lack of consistency.

Another favourite activity of the Opposition, he said, was to oppose for the sake of opposing about everything the Government did.

“When the Government visited China to attract trade investors, they (Opposition) claimed we are selling the country to the Chinese, and when Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visited the White House and signed a few investment deals, they claimed that we are dumping money into the United States.

“Don’t stir the emotions of the people by spouting inaccurate informa- tion; this is the work of unscrupulous parties. If you have nothing good to say, perhaps it is better to shut up,” said Dr Wee, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

Earlier at the event, Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, launched SJK (C) Malayan’s school hall – the first of 36 Chinese vernacular schools in Batu Pahat to be fitted with air-conditioning facilities.

He said the upgrade took up about RM177,000 which he channelled in two allocations.

At another event in Yong Peng, he announced an allocation of RM100,000 to SJK (C) Yong Peng 1 for the upgrading project of the school.
