KUALA LUMPUR: Former AF Megastar participant Indah Ruhaila rubbished allegations that she stole the image and look of pop singer Dayang Nurfaizah while taking part in the programme.

Indah said she never tried to be like Dayang at all, adding that any similarities noticed by netizens were entirely coincidental.

She also revealed that she had no knowledge about the costumes that she would be wearing at concerts as this was up to designers and stylists.

“My focus is on getting ready to sing. Decisions on costumes are left to my stylist and designer, Latifi.

“It’s only a coincidence since the references given to me were from international artistes,” she said.

However, Indah admitted that she was uneasy over the comparisons to Dayang.

“It’s a compliment to be compared to Dayang but I am starting to feel uncomfortable because people may think that I really want to steal her style,” she said.

On Sunday night, Indah, 32, failed to get into the semi-finals of AF Megastar singing contest at the Shah Alam Royal Theatre.

She sang a medley of songs from the late Puan Sri Saloma, such as

Mari Jalan Bersama, Gelora and Bila Larut Malam but got the lowest marks at 22.6%.

On her elimination, Indah said the results did not upset her as that was the nature of a contest.

However, she said she felt sad having to part from her good friend, Idayu. They grew close during the programme.

“There is sadness, there is happiness. What’s most important is that I have done my best and shown what I am capable of as a singer to my fans,” she said.

She said she also hoped that Idayu would win the contest because she really deserved it.
