Ex-sports champ faces health woes

SEA Games gold medallist unable to pay medical bills

WORSENING health has left a former SEA Games gold medallist in dire straits and unable to pay his medical bills, reported Harian Metro.

Che Mohd Azrol Che Mat, 38, who won two gold medals in the 105kg weightlift­ing category at the 2003 and 2005 SEA Games, contracted leptospiro­sis in 2014.

Since then, he has been unwell and is currently having problems with a lung infection as well as kidney and liver ailments that have left him in the hospital for the past two weeks.

Che Mohd Azrol, who is single, had to quit his job at the Terengganu Sports Council because of his health problems and had been doing odd jobs to earn a living.

“I cannot afford the RM2,000 needed every month for my medical bills,” he said.

The footage of the snake wriggling out of the squatting toilet and which was recorded by Mohd Zulhanif Mat Zuki, 24, was picked up and reported by various online internatio­nal media outlets, including Britain’s Daily Mail.

Zulhanif said he was shocked when he first saw the snake emerging from his toilet and decided to film it.
