Long-time reader of The Star bags prize give­away

PE­TAL­ING JAYA: She is not a bag per­son, but is now the proud owner of a DKNY bag. Gina Eng Lee Cheng is the first win­ner of The Star’s Bag That Bag con­test, which runs weekly.

“I didn’t ex­pect to win. I was ac­tu­ally just try­ing out this QR code app that I have on my new phone. Spot­ting the con­test an­nounce­ment in the news­pa­per, I wanted to see whether I could cor­rectly scan the code,” Eng says.

The 63-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, who works as a sec­re­tary in the con­struc­tion industry, notes that she is not crazy over bags. She planned to give the bag to her daugh­ter af­ter learn­ing that she won.

“But I have fallen in love with it. Af­ter hold­ing it in my hands and pos­ing with it, I find that it’s very nice. I like the size and colour. Maybe I’ll keep it af­ter all,” she said.

Ac­cord­ing to Eng, she is a long-time reader of The Star. She has been reg­u­larly read­ing the print ver­sion since she was a teenager and loves the world news, food and fash­ion pages.

“I think it has got­ten bet­ter over the years. The dif­fer­ent sec­tions of­fer in­ter­est­ing con­tent. It’s very organised and easy for us read­ers to pick out sto­ries that suits our in­ter­ests.”

The Star’s Bag That Bag con­test is giv­ing read­ers a chance to win a de­signer hand­bag each week in Oc­to­ber. There are also flight tick­ets up for grabs every Satur­day of the month.
