PETALING JAYA: She is not a bag person, but is now the proud owner of a DKNY bag. Gina Eng Lee Cheng is the first winner of The Star’s Bag That Bag contest, which runs weekly.

“I didn’t expect to win. I was actually just trying out this QR code app that I have on my new phone. Spotting the contest announcement in the newspaper, I wanted to see whether I could correctly scan the code,” Eng says.

The 63-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, who works as a secretary in the construction industry, notes that she is not crazy over bags. She planned to give the bag to her daughter after learning that she won.

“But I have fallen in love with it. After holding it in my hands and posing with it, I find that it’s very nice. I like the size and colour. Maybe I’ll keep it after all,” she said.

According to Eng, she is a long-time reader of The Star. She has been regularly reading the print version since she was a teenager and loves the world news, food and fashion pages.

“I think it has gotten better over the years. The different sections offer interesting content. It’s very organised and easy for us readers to pick out stories that suits our interests.”

The Star’s Bag That Bag contest is giving readers a chance to win a designer handbag each week in October. There are also flight tickets up for grabs every Saturday of the month.
