Victims urged to lodge report against scammer
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have called on the victims of an illegal investment scheme to come forward and lodge reports to facilitate investigations and bring action against the culprit.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (Syndicated/Credit Card/E-Card) assistant director ACP Adlan Ahmad said most victims refused to lodge a report out of embarrassment as they were promised good returns on their investments as well as regarding their losses as minor.
“Less than one percent of the victims of the scam have come forward and lodged police reports, and this makes it difficult for the police to carry out investigations,” he said in a talk show.
Last Friday, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said RM4.4bil in losses were recorded involving 27 fraud investment schemes and 1.7 million victims in the country since July 2013 until September this year. — Bernama
