Reward whistleblowers, says Kelantan MACC chief
KOTA BARU: Whistleblowers who expose corrupt practices should be praised and rewarded.
State Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Moh Samsudin Yusoff said their action would help keep Government agencies and departments clean of corruption.
Failure to report corruption was an offence punishable under Section 25 (1) and (2) of the MACC Act 2009 that carries a maximum fine of RM100,000, Moh Samsudin said after witnessing 120 Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada) officers take the anti corruption vow at the Kada premises in Lundang.
Also present was Kada chairman Datuk Alwi Che Ahmad.
Kada general manager Mohd Ridzuan Ismail led the officers comprising engineers, technicians and senior officials to take the pledge.
Moh Samsudin said the battle against corruption could be readily won if more people played their part.
With the expanding Friends of Anti Corruption Revolution Movement (Gerah), he said it was possible to convince more whistle- blowers to come forward.
There are 3,000 Gerah members now.
Alwi said Kada would hold the anti-corruption pledge taking ceremony in stages for its 1,000 staff.
“Kada is serious in fighting corruption.
“We want officers and staff to voluntarily take the anti corruption pledge,” he said.
