THERE is an old adage in sport that goes something like: “The smaller the ball, the more thrilling the game”. This holds true because golf is a sport that requires concentration, precision and technique, and on the course, players are in the endless pursuit of perfection.

This year, Lexus hosted a group of owners from various countries in AsiaPacific at the Montgomerie Links in Da Nang, where the Lexus Cup 2017 was held.

And at the end of it, Team Malaysian – made up of four winners from the Malaysian chapter of the Lexus Invitational – brought home the trophy.

The Malaysian team, comprising Hoe Kim Sun, Lim Beng Hor, Ong Chee Chang and Siah Chong Yee, captured the title for a third consecutive year.

Although most of the tournament enjoyed good weather, the golfers still had to brave occasional light showers and performed admirably.

“My sincerest congratulations to Team Malaysia for bringing home the Lexus Cup,” said Lexus Malaysia deputy chairman Akio Takeyama.

“Their refined marksmanship and skill in the game have proven that this was truly deserved. We couldn’t possibly be more proud of them representing Lexus Malaysia and bringing home this prestigious award.”

The country title was not the only recognition gained in Da nang. On top of the team trophy, Hoe clinched the nett title.

A player and businessman from Johor Bahru, Hoe who was all smiles and said afterwards that although he participates in several golf tournaments, he had never experienced one quite like the Lexus Cup.

“I never expected to win so when my name was announced, you can imagine how thrilled I was. Prior to the tournament, I was only looking forward to enjoying the game and the Lexus experience itself.

“The hospitality that we received from exquisite dining to magnificent accommodation, were unprecedented and very well thought through. I’d like to genuinely thank Lexus Malaysia for the amazing trip and I am definitely looking forward to future Lexus golf tournaments and events,” said Hoe.

Taking the experience to another level, the Lexus golfers were treated to a golf clinic hosted by LPGA stars Brooke Henderson, Alison Lee, and Jessica Korda.

Speaking at the event, Lexus Malaysia president Ravindran Kurusamy said: “As always, the Omotenashi culture was Lexus’ top priority at the Lexus Cup, aiming to provide all guests with an episode that will be remembered for years to come.

“To us at Lexus, the meaning of Omotenashi goes much deeper than just providing outstanding hospitality. As we continue to infuse this theme into all of our services and events, we take pleasure in getting to know each of our customers, rewarding them with the best and taking them on special adventures that are uniquely Lexus.

“It is our standard principle that even after a sale is made, the good relationship we have with our customers is sustained and remembered,” added Ravindran.
