Third time’s the charm as Adam gets on the podium

-

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian rookie Adam Khalid secured a podium finish at the third time of asking at the FIA Formula 4 South-East Asia Championship in the Philippines.

Adam, 19, finished third after clocking 25:24.679 in Race 3 at the Clark International Speedway yesterday.

He, however, failed to impress in the next three races.

He did not complete Race 4 and could only manage fifth in Race 5 and the weather-shortened Race 6.

On Saturday, Adam was fourth in Races 1 and 2.

China’s Daniel Cao, the Race 2 winner, continued to stamp his mark by securing three more wins yesterday to take his season tally to seven. He was the winner of three races in the season opener in Malaysia from Sept 29-Oct 1.

Backed by a strong home crowd, Race 1 winner Ben Grimes added a second triumph by beating Daniel in Race 5.

The third leg will be in Sentul, Indonesia, from Nov 24-26. Thailand will stage the fourth leg in Buriram from Jan 12-14. The finale is at Sepang from Feb 9-11.
