We all feel sorry for the families of the 11 victims who died in the Tanjung Bungah landslide. People are wondering how DOE rejected the project but the developer could go ahead with buyers already servicing the loan. There are technical reasons for the landslide and people want transparency from the experts who will be conducting the investigations. – Karen & friends Another landslide has happened and this time lives are lost. About a month ago, a landslide damaged several cars and buried half a dozen others under tonnes of earth and debris at an apartment parking lot in Tanjong Tokong. Nothing was done to rectify the source of the disaster. Corrugated piling sheets are still hanging precariously on the slopes, waiting to trigger off another similar incident. The relevant authorities must take action immediately. The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry want to wash their hands of the landslide disaster by saying that they had rejected the plan to develop the Tanjung Bungah project. Why didn’t they monitor this project to ensure that the developers adhered to their instructions. Isn’t this dereliction of duties? > History and people

We are always told to learn from history. But how can we do that when our local history doesn’t really show how Malaysians of various backgrounds played a vital role in the formation of this beloved land of ours? – MSD > Smothered in smoke

Temple committees should advise devotees against burning giant joss sticks especially during hot weather. Smoke from these giant joss sticks is choking the immediate environment, making it unhealthy for the public, especially those who live close to the temples. Organisers of religious festivals should ensure that the health of the environment is not compromised. – S. PARAM > Rohingya problem

We can talk until the cows come home but the Rohingya problem will remain. Time for the United Nations to act. All we need is for each UN member to take in 8,500 Rohingya refugee. – Ancient Aliens > Buck up or get out

Why is it so difficult for the authorities to get rid of illegal moneylenders on the Net? Those who cannot do the job, please step aside. – Batman > Time for younger players

Don’t expect Datuk Lee Chong Wei to perform miracles at his age. Let the younger ones play in future tournaments. > Subtitles would help

Some of the shows on Astro’s Channel 111 (Art) look quite interesting but don’t come with subtitles. Would be great if Astro could look into this.
