KUALA LUMPUR: Whether it is seeking your first ride, looking for an upgrade or simply wanting to make a comparison, this year’s CarSifu Auto Show is the place to be.

That seems to be the case for some of the visitors to the show, which opened at Mid Valley Megamall here yesterday.

“I’m interested in getting a sport utility vehicle (SUV) as my next upgrade over my Honda City, mainly for its higher seating position and better overall visibility,” said Anis Teh, a market researcher who was checking out a Peugeot 2008.

“There are plenty of vehicles here and I like how the show has been arranged by market segment, which means I can walk around and visit all the displays while checking out the competition simultaneously,” she added.

Zulhairi Mat Rawi, 36, and his wife Zafirah Najmi, 34, came to look at the latest Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine.

“I have been driving a Proton Saga FLX for quite a while, so I might upgrade to an SUV or MPV (multipurpose vehicle), but my wife prefers a coupe or smaller car.

“It all depends on our budget, the capacity and whether it’s value for money,” said Zulhairi.

Kumaraswaran Ramaya, a 44yearold company director, was comparing his twomonthold BMW X5 plugin hybrid with a Volvo XC90 T8 SUV.

“It looks really big on the outside, with a spacious interior and two extra seats at the back,” he said.

“But I’m really here to see what’s available to help my wife upgrade from her Honda City.”

Those who book a car at the show stand a chance to win Sharp TV sets and ionisers. Free GSC popcorn will also be given out to the first 200 visitors during the last three days of the show.

The auto show is open to the public from 10am to 10pm daily until Sunday. The fiveday extravaganza is organised by Star Media Group and carsifu.my.

Thirteen brands are featured at the show – Peugeot, Mazda, Toyota, Isuzu, Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, Kia, Renault, Citroen and Proton.

Some of the cars on display were winners at the Oct 5 CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards.

Boustead Petroleum Marketing and Silverstone Marketing are Star Media Group’s partners in the awards and auto show.
