Confused over pricing of MRT fare

-

WE are thankful to the Government for its efforts in improving transport connectivity in the Klang Valley especially with the launch of the Sungai BulohKajang MRT line. Travelling is indeed easy and comfortable in the new coaches, which are more spacious, and the state-of-the-art stations.

There’s no hassle, stress, traffic jams or parking woes to worry about and as senior citizens, we also enjoy a 50% discount on the fare. What more can we say but a big thank you!

Since the launch, we have travelled quite often to the city, taking stops at the various stations along the route. However, we are quite confused by the price of the tickets and would appreciate an explanation on this issue. We took the train from Surian station to Pasar Seni a week ago and were charged the senior citizen rate of RM1.80 per person. On Sunday, Oct 22, we took a ride from the same station to Bandar Utama, which is only two stations away, and we paid RM1.80 per person. Our return journey from Bandar Utama to Suria cost us only 90 sen per person! I am just wondering why the price for a journey that’s just two stations away is the same as going to Pasar Seni which is about six stations away. It makes no sense as in any journey, the further the destination, the more one would have to pay. Hopefully, MRT can provide an explanation for this. DATUK WEE BENG GEE Kota Damansara
