“Initial investigations showed that the group was heading to Johor Baru from Mersing when the driver lost control at KM15 of Jalan Jemaluang-Mersing.

“The four-wheel drive crashed into a bus waiting area near Institut Latihan Perindustrian and Tengku Alang died on impact,” he said in a statement.

The female driver identified as Salma @ Noraini Adam, 37, was pronounced dead at the Mersing Hospital.

The other passengers were Puteri Nur Zawani Mohd Rasid, 33, who sustained severe injuries and Nor Faizah Abdul Malek who escaped with minor bruises.

Tengku Alang was in the news recently when he was charged with drug offences in Selangor.
