Student credits mum with helping her bag contest prize

PETALING JAYA: Syarifah Nabilah Syed Hassan (pic) credited her mother when she won the Bag That Bag giveaway contest.

“My mum was the one who informed me about the contest.

“She’s a big fan of The Star and loves reading the fashion pages. Me? I use the newspaper as a source during debate club discussions,” said the 19-year-old actuarial science student.

She was in total disbelief when told of her Bag That Bag giveaway win. When first contacted, she thought someone was trying to play a prank on her.

“I was in my economics class. I didn’t check my email, so I didn’t know I had won. I really didn’t expect to win and was so excited,” said Syarifah Nabilah.

She came with her mother to collect the Coach handbag at Menara Star on Friday. She came all the way from Tapah, Perak, where she is currently doing her diploma studies at Universiti Teknologi Mara.

“I love the bag. This is my favourite colour. I have a lot of army green colours in my wardrobe. It’s a very cool colour that is easy to match.

“I like the size too,” Syarifah Nabilah enthused.

She added that her mother’s birthday was this month.

“My siblings and I celebrated it, but we didn’t get her a big gift.

“As much as I have fallen in love with this bag, I will be giving it to her. This is her bag.”

The Star’s Bag That Bag contest is giving readers a chance to win a designer handbag each week in October.
