-

DR Jezamine Lim, wife to actor, host and comedian Harith Iskander, has become the first woman in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to receive a PhD in tissue engineering, reported Metro Ahad.

She received her doctorate during UKM’s 45th convocation ceremony. According to the record by UKM, Jezamine is the first woman in the university to receive a PhD in the field.

“This success is a result of the encouragement from my lecturer and husband. I think without them, it might be difficult for me to achieve what I did,” she said.

Finishing her studies in the field was no easy feat, said Jezamine, adding that her family was her inspiration.

“I also have two supervising lecturers who are very kind and always guiding me whenever I’m facing issues, especially in academic writing,” said the mother of three.

Harith also paid tribute to his wife’s PhD journey on his Instagram page.

“Along the way, she had three beautiful kids, produced two international comedy festivals and led one Malaysian comedian (that’s me) to become Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person In The World.

“Today, she became the first woman PhD holder in her tissue engineering field. I’m so proud of her – she is a shining example that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.”

> Starting with peddling five chickens daily on an old, beat-up motorcycle around her village, Wan Azizah Wan Salleh is now a millionaire and a successful chicken processing entrepreneur, reported

BH Ahad.

She used RM500 from an Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) loan 24 years ago to start the business. Wan Azizah, 45, now sells up to 900 chickens daily with the help of her husband Mat Yazid Jusoh, 49, to their customers all over Kelantan, and rakes in millions of ringgit in sales yearly, reported the daily.

“With the modal (capital) loan of RM500 from AIM, I bought 100 chickens to rear. We processed five of these chickens daily.

“I didn’t have any experience in processing chickens so my hands used to get injured. When we started, we had to go out and look for customers using the old motorcycle,” she said.

Wan Azizah, who is owner of Ziza Ayam Proses, garnered nationwide attention when her name was mentioned by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak while tabling the Budget 2018.

He said that she was an example of a successful entrepreneur and a millionaire in the field of livestock and chicken processing, thanks to a small

modal loan from AIM.
