Cops: Speeding could have caused deadly crash Six held over brawl triggered by car accident

-

Speeding is likely to be a factor in the fatal accident in the northern Pitas district that killed four secondary students last week.

Kota Marudu police chief Supt Izaan Abdullah said the multipurpose vehicle was speeding when the driver, who was also a student, lost control of the car after it went through an uneven patch of the road.

The vehicle skidded off the Pitas-Kanibongan road. Izaan said they were continuing their investigations into the mishap and would be submitting a report to the Deputy Public Prosecutor here.

A Public Works Department official said they had carried out checks immediately after the mishap and determined that there was no pothole on that stretch of road.

The driver, a Form Six student, lost control of the vehicle at about 6.30am on Oct 24 while on the way to SMK Pitas II.

Police have arrested six men for allegedly involved in a fight after an accident on the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP).

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said police were alerted at about 1.15pm on Sunday to an accident on the LDP near the IOI Mall bound for Sunway involving a Satria Neo and a Toyota Vios.

ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said when police arrived at the scene, both the drivers were fighting.

They ignored police orders to disperse. ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said the driver of the Satria Neo entered his car and reversed, causing it to hit the Toyota Vios and the police car behind.

Police arrested the six suspects, who are in their 40s, and brought them to the Serdang district police headquarters for further action.
