The Star Malaysia

Concession fare available for senior citizens

-

WE refer to the letter “Confused over pricing of MRT fare” ( The Star, Oct 26) and wish to confirm that the concession fare for travel between Surian MRT Station and Pasar Seni MRT station is RM1.80, while the concession fare for travel between Surian MRT Station and Bandar Utama MRT Station is RM0.90.

The full (cash) fare for travel between Surian MRT Station and Bandar Utama MRT Station is RM1.90.

Based on the writer’s comments, we believe he might have been charged the full (cash) fare during his travel between Surian MRT Station and Bandar Utama MRT Station on Oct 22.

For clarity, senior citizens aged 60 and above could obtain concession fare for their urban rail travel, including travel on the MRT, by presenting their MyKad and purchasing the red concession token at the station’s customer service office.

The token vending machines at MRT stations do not dispense concession fare tokens.

Senior citizens who travel regularly on the Rapid KL urban rail and bus services may also obtain concession fare when using the MyRapid TnG concession card. Senior citizens may apply for the concession card at the Rapid KL Concession Card Centre at the Pasar Seni Bus Hub.

In the writer’s case, we would be pleased to facilitate the refund if we had inadvertently charged him the incorrect fare.

The writer can contact my colleagues at the Rapid KL Helpline at 03-7885-2585.
