KLANG: The Indian community in many parts of the country is calling for the blood of a Tamil schoolteacher who allegedly asked for sexual favours in exchange for a job from a young girl.

Several police reports have been lodged against the man, who in turn has lodged a report saying he now fears for his safety.

The man, who was an MIC branch chairman at the time of the incident, made the demand in a phone call to the girl’s mother.

He also claimed in the conversation to have had sex with seven to eight young girls whom he had helped.

Among other things, he claimed he had sex with one girl four or five times and that one of them had just turned 18.

He said he was helping the girls pass their SPM examinations, which begin on Monday.

“They will all get 10As for SPM,” claimed the man in the recorded conversation that went viral.

He added that the girls had consented because they would be able to gain admission into universities with their results.

The man, 56, also asked the mother if he should speak openly with her daughter about having a sexual tryst with her.

The audio recording made its way on Facebook as well as WhatsApp with many people on social media threatening to physically harm him.

According to a source, the teacher had done the same thing before and was beaten up by some parents after being caught in 2014.

Wanita MIC chief Datuk Mohana Muniandy, in a strongly worded statement, demanded that the man be dealt with harshly.

“Victim after victim, year after year, settlement after settlement, many sexual predators got away with it,” said Mohana, adding that it must not be tolerated.

“The Education Ministry should immediately sack him.”

Among those who have lodged reports against the man are Selangor MIC Youth deputy secretary T. Dr Vijai Annan and PKR’s Selayang division deputy chairman Gunaraj George.

“I am shocked by these allegations,” said Gunaraj, adding that he was seriously concerned over the man’s claims that he had sex with the other young girls and with their parents’ consent.

“The man sounded very confident when he negotiated for sex with the girl’s mother,” he said.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan said the ministry had conducted its internal investigation into the case and would wait for a final result for the next course of action.

Kamalanathan, also an MIC central working committee member, said if the teacher was found guilty, there would be no place for him in school and described the teacher’s act as beyond disgusting.

MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the man’s MIC membership had been terminated and that he would leave it to police to take action against him.
