KUALA LUMPUR: After facing four charges of assaulting three Rela personnel, Datuk Seri Liow Soon Hee is also expected to be charged for a drug offence believed to have been committed three years ago.

The 29-year-old is expected to be charged under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act where he could be fined not more than RM5,000 or serve a jail term of not more than two years if convicted.

“He will be brought to the magistrate’s court at Jalan Duta for the charges to be read,” said Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah during a press conference here.

Liow is currently being held at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.

Earlier, ACP Shaharuddin confirmed that there was a warrant of arrest for Liow over a drug-related case in 2014.

On Friday, Liow was slapped with four charges for assaulting three Rela personnel and offered bail of RM17,000.

Though he posted bail, his freedom was short-lived, as he was rearrested for an old drug offence.

On Oct 27, Liow allegedly caused grievous hurt to Lee Weng Poh, 27, Melvin Cheong, 19, and Leong Jun Jie, 21, while they were on duty at the Kou Ong Yah Temple on Jalan Ampang.

The three personnel also claimed that they were each offered RM10,000 hush money to withdraw their police report of the incident.

They later lodged a report with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the bribery attempt.

Separately, Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San asked the police to probe deeper into Liow’s alleged criminal activities including money laundering and operating get-rich-quick schemes.

“His wealth is unbelievable and his company Winner Dynasty Group could be involved in illegal activities,” he claimed.
