I-Textbook programme in Sabah school

- – By RUBEN SARIO

A private school has become the first educational institution in Sabah to adopt the Interactive Textbook (I-Textbook) initiative in the classroom.

Seri Insan Borneo, will implement the I-Textbook programme together with Learning Port Sdn Bhd, a Kuala Lumpur-based company that promotes interactive textbooks which include multimedia, such as videos and interactive graphics, among others.

Learning is possible as long as students have Internet access in their laptop or tablet, said the school’s chief executive officer Dato Idrus Mohd Satha during its 18th annual dinner. The event also saw the soft launching of the I-Textbook programme.

With the implementation of the programme, the school will go one step further to accord its students the best education programme and mode of learning both in the classrooms and at home.

Seri Insan chairman, Datuk Dr Sharifah Habsah Habib Alawi, said the school had invested significantly on classroom equipment for the I-Textbook implementation.

As I-Textbooks enable students to review their lessons after class, this will help students perform better in their examinations, she said. Dr Sharifah Habsah said that full implementation of the programme in the next school term, will have a positive impact on both students and their teachers.

“We aim to produce students who are competent in using technology, which is in line with our ‘smart school’ concept,” she added

She added that the school aimed to provide quality education and instil in young people the need to learn, think independently, be creative and critical, and to serve their community.
