Businessman cheated of RM140,000 by scammers

-

A BUSINESSMAN was cheated of RM140,000 by a syndicate after receiving a call telling him that his credit card was being misused by a third party, Guang Ming Daily reported.

The victim, known only as Wang from Kuantan, said he received a call from a man claiming to be a bank officer on Friday.

Wang, 52, said the “officer” told him to transfer his money to several other bank accounts to prevent the money from being taken out by the supposed third party.

He followed the instructions and when queried by the bank, lied that the money was withdrawn for his business.

Wang then claimed he felt tired and went back to sleep, only to wake up later that night and realised that he had been cheated. A police report was lodged the next day. > Sin Chew Daily reported that a man allegedly molested a teenage girl at a train station in Serendah, Selangor.

The suspect, in his 60s, had asked the 19-year-old victim to help him up the stairs at about 1pm on Oct 30.

However, when the victim tried to hold his hand, the suspect allegedly kissed her. Startled, the victim then ran away. Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Lim Bak Phai confirmed the incident, saying both parties agreed to settle the matter on their own.

> China Press reported that Singaporean singer-songwriter Stefanie Sun is planning to have a second baby next year.

Sun disclosed this during a function in Taipei, Taiwan, recently.

The 39-year-old artiste, who married Dutch-Indonesian husband Nadim Van Der Ros in 2011, has a five-year-old son.

She said she would take a break from show business during her pregnancy.
