KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man who is believed to be a “serial kicker”, after a video showing him kicking a woman down a flight of stairs went viral.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested at a bus stop at Kampung Batu Muda here at about 11.05pm on Wednesday.

In the video, he was seen kicking the woman on a pedestrian bridge near the Bank Negara building at 1.30pm on Monday before nonchalantly walking away from the scene.

Comm Mazlan said checks showed that the suspect had done the same thing before and had a record for several offences, including for criminal intimidation, vandalism and causing hurt.

The man was even charged with assaulting women at the same place before.

Asked what could be the motive behind the latest assault, Comm Mazlan said the man had dealings in Bank Negara at the time and maybe, he was not satisfied.

“Maybe, he has a bad temper,” he said. Comm Mazlan said that the case was being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

The 34-year-old victim appeared to be shocked by the attack and suffered backaches from the fall.

She later lodged a report at the Dang Wangi police station.

Last year, a video of a man kicking a woman in the same area also went viral on social media.

The woman is said to have suffered injuries to her right cheek when she fell.
