The selfless act of Taman Free School surau chairman Zakaria Mydin in opening the surau doors to non-Muslims at the height of the Penang floods is commendable. These good vibes went viral on social media. Zakaria and his committee members should be invited to schools and places of worship to impart this experience so all know the true inner beauty of interreligious harmony. – Beatle No.5

Dr Farhat A. Avin’s letter (Nov 8) on edible wild mushrooms reminded me of the time I ate them when I was a young lad. They were tastier than the ones currently in supermarkets. Here’s hoping the Mushroom Research Association can develop these varieties so farmers can cultivate them for us.

Kunalan has represented the country in various tournaments and brought us fame and glory and now he and his future wife Dr Raenuga are thinking of country first and marriage and happiness second. Wherever you are doctor, don’t worry, your Kunalan will bring fame and happiness. I wish Kunalan and Dr. Renuga a happy and everlasting marriage. – Masri Abdullah, Kajang.

The Balai Polis Banda Hilir parking area for the public is pitch dark at night. If schools can be brightly lit at night, why not a security area like a police station? I was told the lights have been faulty for sometime but nothing happened. It’s dangerous for the police too as criminals can easily target them. Safety precaution for our police too, please. – Mr Lee

In the recent budget Armed Forces veterans were not given much incentives. Their sacrifices and contribution towards the nation were not well rewarded. – Subra
