MALAYSIA-BORN panda cub Nuan Nuan is set to be flown to China today via a 5.30pm MASKargo flight.

Sin Chew Daily reported that during the last day for open visit at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre in Zoo Negara on Sunday, many visitors took the opportunity to take pictures with the panda cub.

Some 60 workers and staff also bid their farewell to the cute animal.

Zoology, Veterinary and Giant Panda Conservation Centre director Dr Mat Naim Ramli, who has been taking special care of Nuan Nuan, said its recent blood test and health reports showed that it was in good health and was ready for the transfer.

He said a veterinarian will be accompanying Nuan Nuan throughout the flight, which is expected to arrive in China at about 10pm the same day.

He also said the immigration clearance was estimated to take between two and three hours, before Nuan Nuan will be sent on a one-and-a-half-hour road tour to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base in Chengdu.

The China authorities are expected to hold a grand ceremony for Nuan Nuan on Dec 15.

> A two-and-a-half-year-old boy suffered severe hair loss due to stress from attending training class- es, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Patches of hair on the head of Little Dong Dong, who lives in Shanghai, were falling out. This prompted his parents to take him back to Wuhan to seek treatment, the paper added.

After careful examination at the hospital, the toddler was diagnosed with alopecia areata, also known as spot baldness.

The doctor concluded learning pressure and mental stress on Dong Dong were the main reasons for his hair loss.

It was discovered that in order for Dong Dong to successfully enrol in a well-known kindergarten, the mother had signed him up for lessons in English, Mathematics, piano, painting as well as children hosting.

The doctor advised the mother to reduce the learning burden on Dong Dong.
