> See no violence
Efforts to stop bullying must focus on stopping exposure of preschool children to violence on console games, animation movies and cartoons. Our censors must be aware that habituation to violence “normalises” violence upon others, and they should act firmly on TV operators, etc. Parents should not allow children to watch such movies. – Dr Citizen, Pajam
> Well deserved
The Star Golden Hearts Award certainly deserves a thumbs-up. Not only do the 10 winners stand to gain fame and recognition but they are also role models for the rest of us. It is never a waste to help and show kindness to another. – MAM
> Giving leaders
Wong Chun Wai suggested that we vote leaders who listen (On The Beat, Sunday Star, Nov 12). I strongly believe it is more appropriate to choose leaders who “give” and not “take”. – ARA
> All noise only
Of late, Western nations have been making a lot of statements on the Rohingya issue. The West is quick to issue statements on human rights but apart from making noise, why don’t they accept these refugees into their countries? If not, they are just hypocrites.
> Simply unacceptable
The huge number (410,500) of persons owing RM6. 84bil to PTPTN is unacceptable! Are they unemployed? Is our unemployment data correct? Just deduct loan repayment from their salaries.
> Waive insurance
Insurance companies are not keen to renew third-party covers. I suggest the Government waive need to have insurance cover for vehicles aged above 10 years. – Prof (B)
> At snail’s pace
There is a significant service disruption that has affected punctuality and reliability of all KTM services in the Klang valley, including the ETS. The contractor concerned should provide inputs to logistical delays to yield least impact on train performance. Otherwise, a compensation regime should be imposed. – PJ Gomes
> Confusing coins
I really hate Malaysian coins. The 5 sen and 10 sen coins do not look very different and it is very confusing. The 20 sen and 50 sen coins also pose a similar problem. Just make it simple by having a different colour for each coin, please.
> Check the numbers
We monitor the number of doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc. The numbers are increasing according to the needs of the nation. Are we monitoring the number of preachers as well? When there are too many, they would want to differentiate themselves to gain a following and might do this by raising controversial issues.
