KUALA LUMPUR: More peoplecentric infrastructure projects will be delivered by the Government, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said that Malaysia is on the right track when it comes to public infrastructure and the Government has clear and concise public development programmes.
“We have delivered and we will continue to deliver more facilities for the people,” he said, adding that such projects were no longer just infrastructure or basic amenities, but “infra-rakyat” projects.
“If we can deliver the MRT, we can certainly do other projects, and this is not just empty talk,” he said in his speech at the launch of the Expo Negaraku 2017 at Dataran Merdeka here last night.
Organised by the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, the expo has five domes showcasing the country’s public infrastructure development in sectors such as telecommunications, transportation and energy.
Najib said he had just returned from the Asean and Apec summits, and told the audience of how Malaysia is respected internationally.
“The presidents of China and the United States respect us, as do prime ministers from other countries. There are only a few in this country who disrespect us,” he added.
Najib also said the expo is the best approach for the Government to provide Malaysians with infor- mation about its infrastructure projects, and at the same time deliver a fun experience for everyone.
A dazzling light show marked the launch of Expo Negaraku 2017, which will run until Dec 15.
The launch was also attended by the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Cabinet ministers including Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
