KLANG: Lim Bu Kwang, 43, sobbed uncontrollably as he stood in the Klang magistrate’s court dock pending being charged with murder.

Turning around and facing the public gallery, Lim sobbed about missing his two-and-half-year-old son to several of his relatives who were present in court.

He was also heard saying, in between sobs, he was worried about his son’s future now that he will be held in prison while being tried.

Prawn noodle seller Lim, 43, was charged yesterday with the murder of his mother-in-law Ooi Swan Hong @ Ng Swan Foong, 70, at a house in Taman Teluk Pulai between Oct 25 and Oct 28.

Lim cut a forlorn figure, as he stood with his shoulders hunched, while a court interpreter read the charge to him in Mandarin.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by a mandatory death sentence.

No plea was recorded after the charge was read out to him.

Gerard Lazarus and Ethan Chan defended Lim while Amirah Aziz prosecuted.

Amirah told the court that the prosecution was awaiting the pathology, chemistry, as well as forensic and post-mortem reports.

Magistrate Rozianti Mohamed Hanaphi fixed Dec 18 for the case to be mentioned.

According to a statement issued by South Klang district police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli after Lim’s arrest earlier this month, the accuser’s wife rushed Ooi to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang on Oct 28 after she became unconscious.

Ooi, however, died about a week later on Nov 3 at the hospital.

It is believed the woman suffered from severe head injuries.
