PM: Economic management sound with 6.2% GDP growth

-

PUTRAJAYA: The 6.2% growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of the year proves that the country’s economic management is on track, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said with this, Malaysia ranked as one of the countries recording the highest economic growths in the world in 2017.

He said the achievement was also in line with the demands of Islam which was to set the best and highest targets.

“As Muslims, we have to set the level of excellence that we want to achieve, to make sure that we have targets for whatever we do,” he said when opening the Mahmoodiah Surau in Precinct 18 here yesterday.

Najib, who had earlier chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting, said while practising the principle of wasatiyyah (moderation) in the Federal administration, achieving excellence must be set as the benchmark.

Besides the economy, he described the country’s religious administration as in a “state of excellence and world class”, citing Tabung Haji’s handling of Haj pilgrims.

“This is all thanks to us upholding the Maqasid Syariah which always places importance on rights,” he said.

On the surau which is able to accommodate 1,200 people, Najib said he was impressed with the beauty of its design and described it as among the most beautiful he had ever visited.

Construction of the RM4mil surau began in April 2015. It is located next to Sekolah Rendah Agama Mahmoodiah. — Bernama.
