> Staying connected

Our Government should bring back English-medium schools for the future generations. All our PMs and most ministers from Englishmedium schools do not need a translator when attending conferences with other global leaders. Bahasa Malaysia is still our official and most important language. However, we need English to stay connected with the world and to keep abreast of the latest developments in medicine, science and technology. – CT Tan

> Emblems scam

Misuse of the Pertubuhan Kerabat Perdana Malaysia emblems can be controlled if traffic police and Road Transport Department routinely issue summonses or compound fines to owners of cars who paint yellow borders on their vehicle number plates to show connection to royalty. Why do these owners want to show off? What benefits do they get? – Dr Citizen, Pajam

> Hit them hard

The warning is out again. Motorists caught using mobile devices will be fined RM300. But the warning seems to be falling on deaf ears as everywhere you look, you can see drivers and even motorcyclists using their phones in blatant disregard of the law. Hit them hard in their pockets and they might finally obey the rules.

> Uncomfortable ride

We normally take public transport as it is easy and cheap. But these days when we get onto the bus, it’s usually crowded and nobody will offer their seat even for senior citizens. The driver also drives like a mad person so if you are standing, you will fall unless you are holding on to something. Can the relevant authorities look into this problem?

> Risk of commercial fraud

> Help the debtors

People in debt should be helped to solve their problems so that they do not resort to taking their own lives or that of their loved ones. The Sungei Petani case where the father hanged himself after killing his three young children is indeed a sad case. – William Ong

> Beauty of languages

A trilingual child who speaks English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese or other languages will have so many doors open to him or her. At three or four years of age, children can be taught any language as they are like sponges at that age.

> New height in rail travel

KTMB’s introduction of business class ETS and premium lounges at major stations next year is lauded. The privileges and enhanced convenience with personalised service will take rail travel to new heights. Congrats, KTMB. – PJ Gomes
