> A mother in Singapore has claimed that a doctor’s prescription caused her 14-monthold son to overdose on cough syrup.

Oriental Daily reported that the woman made the claim on a fundraising website, saying she did not want monetary compensation but wanted to publicise the negligence.

The woman, identified only as Lim, said she took her son to the clinic on Nov 22 and the doctor prescribed the medicine.

“My son took the first dose and fell asleep. I tried to wake him later, but he only opened his eyes for a while and then shut them again.

“I quickly took him to a hospital and a paediatrician confirmed he had overdosed on codeine, which could be dangerous,” said Lim.
