BALIK PULAU: The laidback charms of Balik Pulau continue to draw holidaymakers for the beauty and tranquillity of the place.

Besides laksa and the popular Balik Pulau durians, another top attraction now is the Saanen dairy goat farm.

Local visitor Cheah Koon Lam, 63, took his family and a friend to the farm yesterday.

“This is our second visit. The first time, we brought some relatives from outstation and the children were thrilled to play and feed the goats.

“Many of them have never seen goats before unlike myself who grew up in a kampung area,” said Cheah.

Before they left, they made sure they sampled a steaming hot bowl of laksa, and of course, the durians.

Student Ang Yik Chang, 25, also came for a retreat with his friends from Kuala Lumpur.

“We went around taking photos around the popular murals here and also cycled around the Balik Pulau paddy fields. It’s really refreshing,” he said.

Housewife Florence Chang, 36, from Kuala Lumpur, said she was looking for something different and yet appealing for the family’s three-day visit to Penang.

“This is our first visit to Balik Pulau, so I was really excited to try out the fresh durians.

“I wanted a place suitable for family and Balik Pulau is an interesting alternative for jalan-jalan (walkabouts),” she said.
