More women judges please, says Puteri wing

-

MORE women judges should be appointed to the Syariah courts in the country to make divorce proceedings easier, said a Puteri Umno leader.

Masjid Tanah Puteri chief Siti Kalthom Ahmad also said divorce proceedings nationwide should also be expedited via online system such as e-filing.

“The disbursement of allowance should also be done faster,” she said at the wing’s general assembly yesterday.

Acting Tampin Puteri chief Nuraini Salihin asked for more to be done to help improve the facilities and infrastructure in schools to produce top-notch students.

She said while the RM190mil allocation to upgrade 2,000 classes into “21st-century smart classrooms” was a good move, more classrooms should be enhanced.

“We have over 10,000 schools nationwide.” Setiawangsa Puteri chief Noraini Zulkafli said there was a need for the Malays and bumiputra to become players of the digital economy.

“We are suggesting for the Government to implement a policy to teach and train Malays and bumiputra for this,” she said.

Padang Besar Puteri assistant secretary Azimah Mahmud suggested that the Government set aside a special fund for young women to become agropreneurs.

Young graduates needed to be smarter in carving new opportunities for themselves, such as going into agriculture-based businesses, she said.
