When will ETS schedule be up?

- IRATE REGULAR TRAIN USER Kuala Lumpur

IN the last week, I have been phoning KTM Bhd’s call centre daily to ask about ETS tickets to Butterworth.

Each time, I was told that those for Dec 18 onwards are not available yet. The reason given by the call centre operators is KTM “could be adjusting the train schedules”.

No one is really sure about the cause of the delay in releasing the ETS tickets. Previously, when I asked at KTM’s ticketing booth at KL Sentral, I was told that ETS tickets are released a month ahead of the travel dates – meaning you can get a ticket for Dec 18 on Nov 18 itself. As at 11am yesterday, tickets for Dec 18 were still not on sale.

This is very inconvenient to those planning holidays, especially with the school break now and Christmas coming up.

These dates are fixed, so if KTM needs to adjust its schedule, it should and could have done so earlier.

Why now, and put travellers in a limbo because we cannot plan ahead?

I was told that each ETS train can ferry about 500 passengers.

Times that by the number of ETS trips available daily, and add those who hop on after others have gotten off along the North-South route and you can count the number of people who have been inconvenienced by the late release of tickets.

We expect a valid reason from KTM for this delay!
