Showcasing young fashion talent
THE Limkokw ing Fashion Club w as the only foreign private university to be invited to show case its collection at the 2017 Singapore Fashion Week.
Presenting a reimagined version of the exclusive collection, Malaysian Soul, Limkokw ing Fashion Club show case w as inspired from the cultures of Malaysia.
Merging heritage values found in Malaysia, the garments embedded traits from the Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures into the designs of Malaysian Soul.
From the sleek gold designs to the chic black layering, all of the patterns imprinted in the collection show cased the unique ethos in Malaysia, such as the religious architecture symbols belonging to the mixture of races that the coun- try is know n for.
As Singapore’s premier fashion event, the Singapore Fashion Week has featured global fashion designers since its start in 2001.
In 2015, Singapore Fashion Week forged a strategic global alliance w ith the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), making it the patron of the Fashion Week.
Invited by Timothy Chen, CEO of Modestyle Asia, w ho spotted Limkokw ing Fashion Club’s Raya Collection and became a follow er later on.
The invitation also acknow ledged the brand as one of the region’s emerging fashion houses. Singapore, undeniably, is one of Asia’s retail markets pow erhouse.
Limkokw ing University of Creative Technology has paved the w ay for fashion education to flourish in Malaysia. Starting from the bi-annual graduate show cases, Creativity in Motion; the establishment of the w orld’s first fashion label by a university, Limkokw ing Fashion Club; as w ell as involvement in various fashion w eeks around the w orld, the institution provides the students w ith industry experiences w hile obtaining their degrees.
At the university, students are not only crafting their know ledge through various innovative classes, but also through industry exposure.
By coining the term “Indusity”, students benefit from various industry talks and internships offered by the university’s partners.
