MALAYSIAN actor Bront Palarae (pic) is gaining popularity in Indonesia following his starring role in the horror film Pengabdi Setan, Harian Metro reported.

Directed by Joko Anwar, the film – a remake of a 1980 movie – is now the highestgrossing Indonesian flick in Malaysia since its screening began in local cinemas on Nov 23.

Bront, whose real name is Nasrul Suhaimin Saifuddin, said he felt blessed because the film was popular in both countries.

“It was not easy to act as a 55yearold father and I needed to learn my dialogue in Indonesian in less than a month,” he said.

The 39yearold said following the film’s success, he had received various offers to act in Indonesian productions.

“My wife even suggested that we should move there but I don’t think it is necessary as I still can travel to and fro if I have any projects there,” Bront said.

> Several villagers in Kampung Sebemban, Sarawak, cut open the stomach of a 2m crocodile, hoping to recover the remains of a man believed to have been mauled by the animal, reported Kosmo!.

However, they did not find anything in the crocodile’s stomach, which was caught by wildlife officials.

The villagers were searching for the remains of 45yearold Ariff Bagoh, who was believed to have been eaten by crocodiles when he went missing on Dec 6.

A family member of Ariff, who declined to named, said he had not given up hope on finding the remains.

A Civil Defence spokesman said Ariff was believed to have been attacked and dragged into the river because the footprints of a crocodile were found near his fishing equipment.

The search area for the man has been expanded to at least 7km from the area where he was reported missing.

> Berita Harian reported that more than 500 people gathered at the LRT station in Putra Heights to apply for vacancies in Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd and Prasarana Group.

Some of them waited from as early 7.30am to be interviewed for the positions of station officer and transit officer along the LRT Kelana Jaya line and Sg BulohKajang MRT Line.

The registration closed at 11am with more than 500 applications received.

This, however, did not include those who were turned away because they either did not fulfil the criteria or were overqualified.
