New bridge hosts run in honour of Sultan’s birthday
KLANG: Less than a month after its official opening, the Jambatan Raja Muda Nala became the latest venue for the annual Menjunjung Kasih Klang Third Bridge Run 2017, attracting 6,000 participants.
The event, which began at 7am, was part of the celebrations to mark the Sultan’s 72nd birthday on Dec 11 and was also aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering camaraderie among the people in Selangor.
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah joined the crowd in the 5km fun run yesterday.
The event, which was launched by Tengku Amir Shah, was divided into cycling and running categories, and included a 10km Men’s and Women’s Open run events.
There was also a 10km run for Veteran Women and Veteran Men categories, that is, those aged 40 and above.
At the close of the event, many participants took the opportunity to take selfies with Tengku Amir Shah, who happily obliged them.
Also present were state Youth Generation Development, Sports, Cultural and Entrepreneurship Development exco Amirudin Shaari and Klang Municipal Council chairman Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin.
