Hard Rock shows softer side with charity tree
MELAKA: The Hard Rock Cafe here is bringing Christmas cheer to two charity homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan.
Outlet manager Anderson K. Selva said it chose the two charity homes because they needed help to give its residents some festive cheer.
“We want to show our generosity towards these homes and our guests are willing to fulfil their Christmas wishes,” he said.
The homes are the Kirtarsh Welfare Home in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, and the Tong Sim Home in Rasah, Seremban.
Selva said the Kirtarsh Welfare Home has some 50 residents, including both children and senior citizens.
“The home cares for children with major illnesses as well as elderly people abandoned by their families.
“The youngest resident is a four-year-old and the oldest is an 84-year-old woman suffering from dementia,” he said.
Selva said the Tong Sim Home faced financial difficulties providing adequate nutrition to the 12 elderly folk under its care and needed a steady flow of funds to continue managing the facility without charging any fees.
“The stories behind both the homes have touched not only my team but also our guests,” he said, adding that he planned to have another charity drive for Chinese New Year in February.
Guests, he said, could offer help to both the homes by buying gifts and placing them at a Christmas wish tree put up at its outlet.
“Donors could also make cash contributions at a counter manned by our staff, whose names would be placed in greeting cards meant for these homes,” he added.
“We hope to bring the residents here for a celebration or my team could make a trip to the homes in the next few days.”
