Compensation sought over 77 dead cows

-

A CATTLE farmer in Morib, Selangor, wants compensation after he claimed that 77 of his cows died from disease spread by another herd he received from the Government, reported Tamil Nesan.

M. Manogaran, 59, said he resigned from his government job to take over the farm, which his father had operated since 1978.

He started with 127 of his own cows and another five provided by the Government.

However, he said, those five cows became sick and infected the other cows, killing 77 of them.

Manogaran said he had written to both the Agriculture and Agro-Based Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Department, but had yet to receive a response.

He claimed he used to be able to get about 700 litres of milk a day with his old herd, but could now barely produce 80 litres a day.

> Malaysia Nanban reported that the Indian Cultural Society of a private college in Ipoh donated uniforms to 16 students and contributed RM1,000 for the construction of a school hall at SMK Sungai Pari.

The society from Cosmopoint College had raised the funds by organising a charity concert at the Kinta Indian Association Hall supported by local businesses, school headmasters, lecturers and students.

The annual event provided a platform for students interested in performing while also raising money for good causes, said the organising committee.
