Subahan eyes new stomping ground for Giants
PETALING JAYA: Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal believes the Red Giants would get to strut their stuff at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil next season.
Selangor’s application to play at the stadium was given the green light by the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (MSC) on Wednesday. They are now awaiting approval from the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) – the M-League organisers.
Last season, Selangor were forced to play at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium after their request to play at their traditional home ground – the Shah Alam Stadium – was rejected by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).
Subahan said he hopes that FMLLP will endorse Selangor’s application to use the National Stadium as their home venue for the 2018 season.
“We’ve submitted all the necessary documents to FMLLP on Wednesday and I don’t think we’ll have any problems because the National Stadium was renovated for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games. I’m sure it’ll meet all the requirements set by FMLLP,” said Subahan.
“Shah Alam Stadium was built as Selangor’s home ground but ironically our application was turned down thrice last year, and once this year by MBSA. We have no say as it’s under the purview of the Selangor Mentri Besar.”
