Isa to give statement on land deal next week
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad will be called up to have his statement recorded over the company’s land deal in Jalan Semarak, said Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said Isa, who was Felda chairman when the deal was brokered, is a person of interest in connection to the matter.
“We are prepared to get his statement by next week.
“I have met with police officers in charge of the case and we will get a clearer picture of what happened once statements from key individuals have been obtained,” he told a press conference after attending a rank awarding ceremony in Bukit Aman.
He added that police are also waiting to record the statement of a high-ranking Felda officer, who
lodged a police report over the land deal two weeks ago.
“The high-ranking officer is too busy but I have instructed him to come and record his statement within the next few days.
“We have scrutinised the police report made and there are grounds for an investigation for cheating and falsifying documents,” he said.
He added that police have recorded statements from more than five people, including officers from Felda, land office and Companies Commission.
“We’ve obtained documents from the Companies Commission on the companies involved in the land deal,” he said.
It was reported last week that Felda was at risk of losing its prime land in Jalan Semarak, estimated to be worth RM270mil, through an allegedly dubious transfer of ownership.
Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said a police report was lodged on Dec 12 and a caveat was placed on the parcels of land, besides the cancellation of the power of attorney issued and civil action against the parties involved.
The land title transfer is believed to have occurred after Felda Investment Corporation appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014, and awarded it full power of attorney to
develop the land.
The police have set up a special task force to investigate the matter
On another case, Noor Rashid said Bukit Aman will get in touch with their Pakistani counterparts to obtain more information on the Malaysia terror suspect detained while boarding a plane in Karachi.
“We will share intelligence with Pakistani authorities to uncover the suspect’s motive as well as networking in Malaysia,” he said.
