Liow: Chinese community wants stable govt

-

SEREMBAN: Chinese voters have been misled by DAP and other opposition parties in the past two general elections and MCA is confident that they will now back Barisan Nasional, said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the Chinese community wants continuous development and good economic growth, which they know is only possible with a strong, stable and united government.

“The Chinese community supports a government that can ensure stability and unity. Barisan has a good record and this is why the community will give its support.

“We know that DAP plays with emotion to fish for votes from the Chinese community, so we want to remind the people to think wisely and not fall for the Opposition’s ploy.

“Think of the future of the country and the future of our younger generations. We need to have a responsible government,” said Liow.

He also lambasted Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly saying that MCA members only voiced their support for the party, but did not actually mean it.

He said Muhyiddin was trying to ridicule the loyalty of the party members towards MCA and Barisan.

“I’m very sure that is not the case this time. What Muhyiddin mentioned was probably what happened during his time at his constituency.

“Our party members realised that they need to strive along the lines of the party’s foundation and that of Barisan’s.

“We have had our transformation within the party and our members understand the need to support the party to strengthen our rep resentation in Barisan,” Liow said, adding that the current MCA leadership and its relations with the members were stronger than ever.

On another matter, Liow said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s apology for his past mistakes during his tenure as prime minister was his right, but the damage to the country had already been done.
