-

ACTRESS Fathia Latiff has quashed talk that she will be heading for the United States in January and staying there for several months, reported Kosmo!

The 30-year-old clarified that she would actually be going to London for a vacation.

“I will be going on a vacation soon but it won’t be to Los Angeles, I’m going to London and only for two weeks,” she was quoted as telling the daily.

The Ariana Rose actress, how- ever, refused to comment further when asked if she was going away “to make herself scarce”.

An online news portal and local daily had reported that Fathia would be leaving for the United States in early this month.

The reports stated that Fathia, who had always wanted to experience living overseas, wanted to stay there for a few months to try something new.

> Having lived in Terengganu for more than 30 years since 1986, Ghanaian grandfather Ibrahim Moro now regards the state as his home.

Metro Ahad reported that Ibrahim, 60, who is from Wenchi in southern Ghana, is fluent in the Terengganu dialect and prefers to eat local dishes such as ikan singgang, budu, belacan and tempoyak.

“I really love this state and in more than 30 years living here, I only returned to Ghana once.

“I miss my birthplace but it is God’s will that I stay here and raise a family,” said Ibrahim, an odd-job labourer.

The father of five, who now stays at Projek Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin in Bukit Ara, Kuala Berang, is no longer able to speak his mother tongue well as he rarely uses it.

“I also find the local people here kind,” he said.

Fatimah Salleh, 62, said her husband has been applying for permanent residence status since 2005 and hoped that the authorities would consider it.
